The CD4585 belongs to the 4000 IC series. A 4-bit magnitude comparator is a simple electronic circuit that is used to compare two binary numbers, each of 4-Bits. It consists of eight inputs each for two four bit numbers and three outputs to compare and generate results for less than, equal to, and greater than between two binary numbers. The purpose of a magnitude comparator is to compare the magnitude of a set of variables or unknown numbers.
