The 74F521 IC is an expandable 8-bit comparator. It compares two words of up to eight bits each and provides a LOW output when the two words match bit for bit. The expansion input IA = B also serves as an active-LOW enable input. What is a Magnitude Comparator?
An 8-bit comparator compares the two 8-bit numbers by cascading of two 4-bit comparators. 8-bit magnitude comparators compare two 8-bit values and produce a 1-bit flag as result, which indicates that the first value is either greater than or less than or equal to the second value.
