Audio power amplifiers, radio power amplifiers, and power amplifiers are the three major types. So, in this tutorial, we are going to make a “25 Watt Audio Power Amplifier Circuit” using TDA2040.

TDA2040 is the audio amplifier that works in the class AB amplifier mode. Class AB amplifier belongs to the family of power amplifiers, used to reduce distortions. Practically, it is the combination of the class A and B amplifiers. It has greater power efficiency that provides a pleasant sound. Therefore, in this article, we are making an amplifier using the TDA2040 IC.

Working Explanation

This 25 Watt Audio Power Amplifier Circuit uses TDA2040 IC. Resistor R3 is wired into the circuit providing feedback between pins 4 and 2. Resistor R4 and capacitor C7 are making the network for high-frequency stability, connected with pin 4. The power supply is applied at pin 5 and pin 3 is used for the ground. Hence, an amplified output is coming from pin 4.

We may get an excellent peak-to-peak audio output signal when we use a dual power supply, which we cannot get when we use a single power supply. However, the overall amplification of both dual and single supply remains the same.

The amplifier takes a single audio signal and outputs a mono audio signal; if a stereo amplifier is required, two TDA2040 amplifiers can be bridged.
