Introduction

Low dropout voltage regulators which are shortened as LDOs, are used to derive lower output voltages from a major supply. It provides a stable output voltage with some load variations. These voltage regulators usually require very few external components like capacitors and resistors, hence making it easy to understand the circuitry. So, in this article, we are going to discuss one of those regulator circuits known as the “AZ1117C Low Dropout Linear Voltage Regulator Circuit”

Brief Overview of AZ1117C

The designers have optimized the AZ1117C for low voltage where transient response and minimum input voltage are crucial things. It maintains the current limit and thermal shutdown. The circuit of the regulator includes a trimmed bandgap reference to make sure that output voltage accuracy is within 1 percent. Its On-chip thermal shutdown protects against a
high current and temperature.

Working Explanation

To make this AZ1117C Low Dropout Linear Voltage Regulator Circuit we need to make a voltage divider system using two resistors. Then connect the Adj pin to the voltage divider, which will make AZ1117C a Variable voltage Regulator. Now the output voltage would depend on the value of the R1 and R2 Resistors. Here we use c1 and C2 capacitors as Filters.

Application and Uses

  • We can use it in the USB circuits.
  • We may also employ it in DVD player circuits.
  • You may also use it in making of computer’s motherboard.
