Introduction

Many times we have seen that the weather is unpredictable. The rain shows at the time that no one is prepared for it. Although, rain is a source of affection for humans and soothes the soul of a person. But sometimes unpleasant things happen if we get no alert. For instance, many times we have seen that clothes on the clotheslines outside the house get wet when there is no alert of the rain and it causes trouble. Hence, it may risk so many things. So, the engineers have designed the rain detector circuits to get warned about rain. To make the humans alert about the rain we are going to make a rain alarm circuit. So, in this tutorial, we are going to make a “Simple Rain detector alarm circuit”

Hardware Components

The following components are required to make a Rain Detector Alarm Circuit

Working Explanation

Anyone can make this simple and affordable circuit. However, it needs a little knowledge of electronic devices and circuits. The primary motive of this circuit is to make a sound when the rain starts. When we give a voltage at the base of the transistor SL100 and pour the water drops at the rain sensor (which we have made with the help of a single stand wire and Vero board), the transistor starts conduction. When there is no water, the supply at the base of the transistor goes to the cutoff region. This rain alarm circuit will automatically get ON and alert the keeper when it detects the raindrop.

Application and Uses

  • We use it in irrigation to alert the farmers and with some modification in the device, it can help to save water.
  • Similarly, it can be used in the home automation devices
  • We can also use it in automobiles to start the wiper when it detects rain or water
