How to make a Siren Sound Generator Circuit – 4 Sounds

Introduction

Sounds are part of the life of every normal being. It gives a person different feelings. For instance, if you’re somewhere and hear a fire siren, it puts you in a situation to leave that place. If you hear an ambulance, you pray for the health of a person, if you hear the police siren, you get the knowledge that something inhuman happens in your area.

Thus, designers make these sound generator circuits. But, what if you get four unique sounds in a single circuit? For this, in this tutorial, we are going to see How to make a Siren Sound Generator Circuit – 4 Sounds.

Working Explanation

In this Siren Sound Generator Circuit, we are using IC UM3561 having 8 pins. The IC can bear the supply from 3V to 5V and provides an output range from -3V to +3V. The supply provides a bias to the complete circuit. A Zener diode is also there to regulate the battery voltage. Pin 1 and 6 of an IC are select line pins that are connected with a push button. We wired oscillator pin 7 with a variable resistor. The variable resistor is there to maintain the oscillation. We connect the output pin to the 8Ω speaker through the NPN transistor.

When you press Switch 1 (S1) a sound will generate when you press Switch 2 (S2) the other sound will generate, and when you press pin 3 another speaker makes another sound at the output. When you press no switch, there would be another distinct sound. Hence, the circuit can make four unique sounds.

Applications

  • We can use this in circuits to generate a police siren.
  • It can also be used in an ambulance sound generator as well.
  • Also, to generate fire bridges and other sirens.
  • This circuit has great use in children’s toys.
